The Critic by Joanne Schwehm

WORDS
Convey a message

Andrea Jordan dreams of acting on Broadway, and she is at the cusp of achieving success. All her sacrifices start to pay off when she lands a role that will catapult her to stardom.

CAN
Express our thoughts

Award-winning theater critic Bentley Chambers possesses the power to make or break a career. Theatergoers consider his reviews to be gospel, and actors cringe at the thought of him in the audience. His words possess power.

HURT
A heart’s not made of stone

More than one actor has been sent packing after Bentley’s bad reviews, and Andrea could be next. She won’t stand by and let him shatter her dreams, but she never thought giving him a piece of her mind would also mean giving him a piece of her heart.

Will Andrea discover on her own the passion Bentley claims she lacks, or will he be the one to draw it out of her?

Words… choose them wisely.

I have to say that The Critic is one of my favorites from Joanne. I LOVE New York and Broadway and so this storyline has me hook, line and sinker from the beginning.

Bentley Chambers is the hard nosed critic who seems to be especially hard on Andrea "Andi" Jordan. Bentley's critics can make or break an actor or show and it seems Andi just can't get it right. So when she seeks out Bentley to confront him, what she never expected was this gorgeous man, staring back at her.  Bentley offers to help teach her, to make her into the star that he knows she can be. Sparks fly between the two of them, making for a fun and steamy story.

Well written with characters you latch onto. So nice to read a story that isn't like the others out on the scene right now. Highly recommend this book and this author!
