Top 5 Snowbound Holiday Favorites

It's getting colder, the holidays are here, so it's time to unwrap my favorite activities for staying home and keeping warm. Whether you're snowbound like Lacey and Daniel, or just want to snuggle up, here are my top fun things to keep the cold at bay!

5. Hot cocoa, and tea, and mulled wine… In fact, hot drinks of any kind! I love snuggling up with a mug of something warm, and if it's spiked with some booze too? Well, I won't tell :)

4. Catching up on reading. When the sun's out, I feel like I should be out and about, doing things, so I love when the weather finally turns chilly, and I have an excuse to dive into my to-read list. Put the heat up, or get a fire going, and you're all set!

3. Baking. When the holidays roll around, I love to have a big baking afternoon with friends. I whip up a bunch of treats, then package them up in cute cellophane bags and ribbons to send out as gifts, and bring to holiday parties. Try roasting nuts with spices and sugar, or decorating simple sugar cookies to get stared.

2. Holiday movies. I am a sucker for holiday movies! From winter classics like White Christmas, to my new favorites Serendipity, the Holiday, and Love Actually, there's nothing like it to get me in the festive spirit. Plus, there are tons of cute ones on TV every year, so you'll be spoiled for choice.

1. Deck the halls. It's so easy to get buried under holiday commitments and gift-buying stress, I like to take an afternoon just for trimming the tree, putting out decorations, and singing along to holiday playlists. A little Frank Sinatra, a little of that mulled wine.. .Soon, your home will look ready for the holidays, and you'll be full of good spirits!
