COVER REVEAL: Plowed by Kristen Luciani and Rebecca Manuel

Making the Play by TJ Kline

An NFL player who finds love when he least expects it…

T.J. Kline launches a brand new series with the charming story of an NFL player who finds love when he least expects it…

Grant McQuaid has dedicated his entire life to his football career. Now an injury threatens his place on the team and he’s forced to return home to rehabilitate. But when he meets his “biggest fan,” a precocious, blue-eyed, hearing impaired boy named James—and his beautiful mother, Bethany—Grant begins to question whether football is the future he still wants.

Bethany Mills has been doing just fine since her husband walked out on them… and she definitely doesn’t need another man to disappoint her—or her son. But when James runs into his hero at the park, Bethany admits there is a void in her son’s life that she just can’t fill. Her attraction to the handsome football star is undeniable, but a man in the limelight is the last thing she wants for herself, or James.

Grant doesn’t want to subject Bethany to the chaos of dating a professional athlete. But the more time he spends with her and James, the harder it is to resist making a play for her heart…

This was my first novel by TJ Kline and it definitely won't be my last. I absolutely fell in love with her new series - Hidden Falls. And I can't wait for more from this series and hopefully it's all about these sexy McQuaid Brothers and their cute sister Maddie.

Grant McQuaid finds himself back in his hometown trying to work his way back from a potential career ending injury. He only has a little more time before Pre-Season Training starts and he needs to make sure he can prove to the owners and coaches of the Memphis Mustangs that he still has what it takes to be a star player on the team. What he never expected was to run into Bethany Mills and her son James, who just so happens to be one of his biggest fans, at the park while working out with his brother.

There is something about Bethany and her son. He can't seem to get them out of his head, which isn't helping with his training program. Bethany is trying to start over. With a son with disabilities and a husband who left once they found out their perfect son was deaf, she has spent the last 6 years trying to protect bother James and hers heart. She has a strict no dating rule but the sexy football player who has captured her sons heart right from the start, is slowly is starting to slowly open her heart to the man who just can't stay away from them.

Grant finds out that he may not be able to follow his dream of being back in the NFL but will Bethany and James help to fulfill another dream of his?

I adored James and his love for Grant. Grant is sexy and all alpha, just what the secluded Bethany needs in her life.

This book is a definite win and I can't wait to read more from TJ Kline.

Grant waited at his car for Bethany and James to finish up inside the classroom. He’d spent the rest of lunch recess entertaining nearly forty kids who’d come running over when they realized James knew a professional football player. The smile that lit James’ face when he introduced Grant had been well worth the discomfort he’d faced trying to explain why he was at the school to Bethany.
He couldn’t blame her for being standoffish with him when she first saw him there. What kind of weirdo showed up at your job the day after you told him to take a hike? But something had shifted in her today. He’d seen it in her eyes when he tried to explain why he’d come. Enough that he was willing to push his luck and see if she wasn’t up for having ice cream today.
Grant saw her heading toward her older model sedan in the school parking lot, juggling an armload of books, papers and teaching supplies. James wore a small backpack with a cartoon character he didn’t recognize on his little shoulders but Bethany carried an overfilled tote bag that had to weigh more than she did.
“Hey! Here, let me get that for you.” He hurried to her side, sliding the bag from her shoulder. Apprehension colored her hazel eyes and, for a moment, he wondered if she wasn’t going to tell him to leave again. Instead, she unlocked her car.

Grant wasn’t sure if he should ask but knew it would look far more suspicious if he didn’t now. “What are you guys up to? I thought maybe I could convince you to get that ice cream today.”

James’ face brightened and he looked up at his mother. “Can we?”

Bethany bit her lower lip. “We can’t.”

Grant tried not to take the second rejection to heart and nodded in understanding.
“Our downstairs toilet broke this morning and I had to turn it off. Now I’ve got to run to the store for the part and figure out how to fix it,” she explained.

Relief he hadn’t expected coursed through him. Maybe she wasn’t shooting him down after all. He let the corner of his mouth tip up playfully. “Ms. Mills, that sort of sounds like a load of C-R-A-P,” he spelled, laughing at his bad pun.

Her eyes widened but she smiled at his audacity. “Mr. McQuaid,” she scolded.

James giggled beside her and Grant immediately realized his mistake. “Mom, he spelled a bad word.”

“How did he . . . never mind. I should have known this genius could spell that,” Grant said, trying not to laugh. “How about if I help you fix your toilet?”

She popped open the truck, indicating that he should set her bag inside. “You want to fix my toilet?” Bethany crossed her arms and leaned a hip against the side of the car as she closed the trunk. “Really? That’s the line you want to go with?”

Grant shrugged but the smile never left his lips. What was it about this woman and her kid that made him feel so comfortably at ease? He hadn’t felt this relaxed in a long time. She made it easy for him to forget about his injury, the pressure of his upcoming training camp and his possible job loss.

“What do you say, little man? You think between the two of us men, we can fix the toilet for your mom?”

“Yes!” he yelled cheerfully. James climbed into the back seat of the car and buckled himself into his booster seat.

“I’ll meet you at the hardware store.” Grant turned to walk back to his car.

“I’m not going to get rid of you, am I?”

Grant paused and looked back over his shoulder at her. “Why would you want to?” he asked with a wink and jogged the rest of the way back to his car.

Every girl has had a broken heart.
Every girl knows love hurts.
Every girl has a story.
This is mine…
My name is Maggie May and I met him under a haze of purple lights. As cliché as it sounds he was tall, dark, and handsome as hell, and I had fireworks in my eyes…literally.
It was New Year’s Eve and beneath the magic of all that glitters and shines, I fell for him and his wicked ways. The way he moved, the way he touched me, the way he brought me to orgasm over and over.
You should know that I don’t believe in love. Fairytales and happily-ever-afters are never anything I’ve dreamed of…until him.
Something changed the moment our eyes met. It wasn’t insta-lust or insta-love, it was simply him and me, and the dance floor at our feet.
The problem is our story ended three days after it started.
But now he’s back.
And he says he’s sorry.
Can I believe him?
Do I want to believe him?
He calls me his bedwrecker…but what if he wrecks me?

"Rhonda, pst, Rhonda is that the Carrington girl? The writer who was at the bakery with that country singer Eddie Justice? I thought she was in Austin?" one of the old church ladies not-so-subtly asked the woman next to her.

I rolled my eyes and Clay looked at me with a mischievous grin. Slowly I stretched my arms over my head and leaned toward my brother, not so quietly whispering, "I can't wait to get out of church so I can go home and get some Eddie Justice man meat."

The old ladies gasped and started whispering. They didn't need to know that Eddie and I had only ever been next door neighbors and friends, well until we spent the night breaking a tree branch, if that counted for anything.

Great Holiday Reads by Samantha Chase and Olivia Miles

Two gorgeous stories about the most romantic time of the year...

The holidays don't have to be fraught with tension, as lifelong friends Lily Cavanaugh and Cameron Greene discover in Mistletoe Between Friends when they cook up a scheme to fool their family and friends.

The Snowflake Inn shows rivals Grace Brodie and Riley Walsh that Christmas is a time when dreams come true-even if you've given up on those dreams long ago.

I am a sucker for Christmas Romance and I adore Samantha Chase, so as I sat down to read this double feature, I was thrilled and couldn't put the book down.

Mistletoe Between Friends was the perfect friends to lovers troupe and I loved every minute of it. Lily and Cameron have been best friends forever. Their families always getting together for the holidays and taking family vacations together. Cameron is the nerdy, quite type while Lily is the freespirited artist with a heart of gold. The two of them are sick of their mothers setting them up on blind dates and with the holidays approaching, meaning endless parties and hookups, Cameron comes up with the idea that the two should pretend to be dating to get their moms off their backs. And what happens next is magical. I loved Cameron and Lily together. The opposites attract and best friends makes this a fun and flirty read.

Snowflake Inn was a small emotional read full of heart. Riley Walsh is coming home after being released from the Marines after an accident. He loves his mother, but he knows all she wants is for him to take over the family business, a bed and breakfast in the mountain of North Carolina. What he never expected once he returned home was Gracie Brodie, a gorgeous woman who has been helping his mother in his absence and has stole a piece of his heart. Both are broken souls who find peace with themselves and with each other.

Anytime I can pick up a book by Samantha, I know by the end I will have a heart full and a smile on my face. Great Holiday reads!

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.
When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

I love this series by Olivia Miles and it's a must to add to your TBR list. And I was thrilled to see a holiday edition - nothing better in my book.

Kara Hastings is just trying to keep her head up above water. Having started a cookie bakery just in time for the holidays and being the sole employee has ended up being almost too much than she can chew. But she's determined to make it work and prove to everyone around her that she can stick with a dream and make it a success, no matter the sacrifices she has to make. What she never expected was to run into (literally) Nate Griffin.

Nate is in town for the holidays to help his aunt out with her Bed and Breakfast after the guilt trip his parents gave him about never seeing his aunt. He doesn't know how anyone can live is a small town where everyone seems to know what's going on with everyone else in town. When he runs into Kara Hastings one day on the sidewalk, he's instantly intrigued by the beautiful woman. But he can't start something, when he's only in town for a few weeks. Or can he?

This was a fun look into the dynamics of small town living and Kara and Nate had such a magnetic chemistry it was fun to see both of them let down their guards and start to enjoy each other. I read with a smile on my face and loved all the secondary characters as much as the first. The perfect read to get you into the holiday spirit!

Having grown up in New England, Olivia Miles attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec before settling in Chicago where she lives with her husband, their daughter, and two ridiculously pampered pups. When she is not chasing after her little ones, she is hard at work creating feisty heroines and alpha heroes with a heart. A city girl with a fondness for small town charm, Olivia enjoys highlighting both ways of life in her stories.

Sloan Johnson Sweet Spot

I've always been a big fan of sports romance. Did you plan on this big series of sports romance or did the series start as a standalone and then move into something more?

I did not plan this at all! It started as one book, primarily written for a friend, and it's grown into so much more! That being said, I am having a blast finding new scenarios to keep writing the guys I love, and look forward to writing more next season. After that, I will wrap up Homeruns. It may not be the end of baseball, and definitely won't be the end of sports, but I think it's time to move on to something new. I don't ever want to feel like I'm writing the same story over and over, and eventually, I'll reach a point where it seems like the entire team is gay, which defies reality just a bit too much for my liking. As it is, I've had to retire several players already, just to keep things plausibly true to life. Having said all of that, baseball won't be the only sport I take on. In Line Drive, you'll meet a character who will be featured in the first book of a new football series. If everything goes according to plan, I'll release a couple of those this winter and possibly next year, as well.
