REVIEW: Roman Craxy by Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci

ROMAN CRAZY
(THE BROADS ABROAD #1)
By Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci

Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She’s left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy, licking her wounds—and perhaps a gelato or two. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery’s thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought she’d see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.

Marcello was the man—the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and—hey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello…

Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. It’s heady, it’s fevered, it’s wanton, and it’s crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?

A celebration of great friendship, passionate romance, and wonderful food, Roman Crazy is a lighthearted story of second chances and living life to the fullest.

I absolutely love a good second chance romance and what better place to do that than the romantic city of Rome, Italy

Avery has stepped foot in Rome to escape her husband whom she found in a compromising position with his secretary. Her best friend has opened up her home to Avery to let her get a breath of fresh air and begin to think about what's next. The only thing Avery was thinking about was whether or not she was making the right decision. She never expected to run into the one man whom she at one time thought she would abandon her life back in Boston for - Marcello.

Marcello was her secret. She never told anyone about the sexy Italian she met while doing a semester abroad in Spain - nine years ago. She instantly fell in love with him, even though she had a boyfriend back home. She was ready to go home and tell everyone she was going back to Spain and Marcello. The only thing she hadn't planned for was the guilt she felt when landing and seeing her boyfriend waiting for her with open arms... And before she knew it she was sucked back into her life in the US and eventually forgot the life in Spain after an incident left her no choice but to stay.

To say the Marcello was mad at seeing her was an understatement - but the chemistry was still there and eventually the two start to hang out, reconnect and fall back in love. But will history repeat itself, only this time will Avery be the one left behind and heart broken?

I absolutely loved the visual picture this book paints of Rome and the romance of Italy. I want to book a flight now and walk the cobblestone street of the neighborhoods and take in all the culture and vitality that is Roma. The reconnection of Avery and Marcello will have you swooning and at times feel the emotions of a passionate love that one hopes to find in a lifetime, much less twice. And this is a great romance book without a lot of angst... just pure sex appeal.

I can't wait for more story's in this series and howling the Avery's best friend Daisy is next in the adventures!

ALICE CLAYTON worked in the cosmetics industry for over a decade before picking up a pen (read laptop).

She enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up, and finally convinced her long-time boyfriend to marry her.

Now, about that Bernese Mountain dog.
