Friends Wanting Benefits by Luke Young

Victoria Wilde and Jillian Grayson meet while aboard a romantic Caribbean cruise with the men in their lives. The two become fast friends despite being in completely different relationships--Victoria, a young widow, is finally moving on with a new and exciting romance. Jillian, on the other hand, is struggling in a long marriage that's barely hanging on by a thread.

But when Victoria offers Jillian advice on how to get the spark back between the sheets... things don't exactly go as planned. With a misunderstanding of international significance, all hell breaks loose in paradise. Can Victoria repair the damage that has been done? Will she truly help Jillian save her marriage?

The prequel to Friends with Partial Benefits introduces us to Victoria and Jillian and the beginning of their friendship.

This was a different read, being that it was the first romance novel I have read by a male author. It was nice to read a man's POV on romance and I really enjoyed the book. There were some genuine laugh out loud moments and Victoria was a riot!

Jillian is a romance author with a seventeen year marriage that is anything but sexy and fun. Trying to put a little romance back into her marriage, she invites her husband to go on a book signing cruise with her.

Thirty-nine year old Victoria is living life to the fullest. After the death of her husband, she decided to take a walk on the wild side, so she brings along her 21 year old friend, Ethan, to have a little fun while on a cruise.

Jillian and Victoria cross paths and soon become friends. And lets just say, they find themselves in quite the predicaments to make you laugh.

I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series to see what adventures Victoria and Jillian can get into.

To set the scene, Miss Victoria and Miss Jillian are on a cruise ship where they just met and are, of course, becoming fast friends. Victoria, while trying to put a spark in Jillian and George's not so great marriage, sorta is responsible for getting Jillian in the middle of an international incident. Below is a scene where Victoria "thinks" she got Jillian off the hook by sorta conning the captain of the ship and she's telling her how she did it.

Jillian shook her head, confused. "Wait a second, he gave you access to everything?"

"Uh-huh."

"Didn't he ask you to show him some identification or credentials or anything?"

"He did." Victoria folded her arms.

"So, how did you—"

"I showed him something else," she interrupted wearing a smug expression.

What did you show him?"

"Well, a better question might be— what didn't I show him."

"I don't understand." Jillian shook her head, confused.

"First I gave him the Sharon Stone Basic Instinct treatment."

"Oh…"

"But the situation called for more."

"More?"

"Yeah, then I…" Victoria made quote marks with her fingers, "… dropped my purse and when I bent over the chair to get it, he may have gotten a look at everything and he was only about four feet away."

"Wow."

"Yeah, after that he was mine. He probably would have let me steer the ship if I'd asked."

"You're unbelievable."

"I am."

"That's just amazing." Jillian scoffed.

"Women don't fully realize the power they possess. Let me see… How do I put this delicately?" Victoria took a moment to craft her words. "With great… pussy comes great responsibility."

"What?" Jillian chuckled. "Wait, isn't that from Spiderman?"

"Well, yeah, but I don't think Uncle Ben used the word pussy."

"Obviously not. So what are you saying?"

"I mean, by harnessing the power of your, let's call it, womanhood, women can accomplish great things."

"Like?"

"Like, um, getting out of speeding tickets, escaping from jury duty and sometimes convincing a captain of a major ocean liner you're an F.B.I. agent in order to derail a criminal investigation."

"Wow." Jillian gazed out to the ocean through the balcony door.

"Yeah." Victoria nodded. "You really should embrace the power of your own pussy."

"I never thought about it that way."

"You know God gave women a special gift. Whether you are super-model thin, normal or even overweight— naked and bent over at just the right angle the female form can change the world."

Luke Young is the Kindle and iTunes bestselling author of the Friends With Benefits series as well as the inexplicably forgotten novel Chances Aren't. Oh, and the missunderstood Chocolate Covered Billionaire Navy SEAL... we almost forgot about that one too.

Young’s Friends With Benefits novels are filled with passion, longing, comedy, and, yes, sex. His relationship comedies feature strong, sexy female characters — women who seize every opportunity for fun and don’t let a little thing like age stand in the way of love or desire. In each book Young sets different wheels in motion, applying his comedic touch and pitch-perfect ear for playful couples’ banter. The result is warm, funny, sexy storytelling at its best.

Young got his start writing screenplays, which earned the praise of contest judges while never quite making it to the “green light.” He adapted his second screenplay into a novel and found himself hooked on the new form. Since then, he’s released five novels, one novella, and one short story.

Young’s prolific nature is a gift to fans across the globe who have enthusiastically embraced the Friends With…Benefits series. This fan support has driven the books up the Kindle bestseller lists. If you enjoy romance, sex, and unexpected hilarity, you will love Young’s books.
