At what point do you stop fighting the events that have long been predetermined by the course of fate?
Cara Savannah falls fast and falls hard. She always has. The problem is the kind of guys she falls for. They aren't interested in anything more than a one night stand. Finally fed up with the years of heartache and lack of meaningful relationships, she vows to turn over a new leaf. Cara is going to let love take a backseat and focus on herself. Most importantly- no more tattooed bad boys. The question is, how long can she manage to evade what fate has orchestrated for her?
Abel Mileski is every bit your typical bad boy on the exterior, but life’s left him broken and jaded. After years of meaningless sex with girls only seeing him for his good looks and tattoos, he sees no value within himself. Ready for a change, he shuts down his desires and immerses himself in his career. However, when fate intervenes, he is completely unprepared. Meeting Cara ignites his desires. She’s not fazed by his ink, and when he tries to charm her, he fails... Stunned by her instant dislike of him, he is determined to find out why.

After months of sexual tension, they
make a decision that will forever change their lives. Will that decision be
what ultimately wrecks them or brings them back together?
Buzz, Buzz, Buzz.
Man, my phone always goes off when I‘m in the car and can’t
reach the dang thing!
I pull over on the side of the road and go digging through
my purse for my phone.
Change of plans. Can
you meet us at the fire station? –Abel
Sure on my way! – B
Good thing I stopped to look at the text. Otherwise I would
have ended up on the other side of town. As I pull back into traffic, I begin
to go over my questions for Abel and Cara. I hate being unprepared.
I was surprised when Alexa called me and said that Abel and
Cara had agreed to sit down with me to talk. I remember meeting them last time
I was in town. They weren’t dating at the time, but the sexual tension between
those two, you could cut with a knife. I wasn’t surprised at all when Alexa
told me that they were together. She said that her and Vincent put in the good
word for me, so they felt comfortable with me being there. Plus I had talked
with them several times before coming to Colorado. This whole gang were quickly
becoming good friends.
I see the station ahead and pull to the side of the building
to park. As I turn the corner, there are a few men out front cleaning one of
the rigs.
“Hi guys! I’m looking for the chief.”
A guy with a mega-watt smile starts walking towards me with
an outstretched hand. “You must be Becca. Abel told us you would be here any
minute. I’m Troy. Let me point you in the right direction,” he says with a
wink.
Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to be hanging here at the
station. Does God even make an ugly firefighter!? Geez. Okay concentrate Becs.
“Oh Troy - as in Abel's friend Troy? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!” We
make some small talk as he leads me to the back of the bay to some stairs
leading up to the living area at the station.
“Just go up the stairs and make a right. He should be in the
kitchen. It’s his turn to cook. Although I am sure it’s Cara who is doing all
the work,” he says with a laugh.
“Great! Thanks again Troy. I'm sure I will see you again
before I leave.”
As I head up the stairs I can hear Cara and Abel talking.
True to Troy’s word, Cara is slicing and dicing in the kitchen while Abel is
snacking on various items on the other side of the island.
“So Troy told me it was your turn to cook, but it looks like
Cara is doing all the work!” I announce with a smile.
“Becca!!” They both yell and walk towards me with smiles on
their faces.
I hug both and follow them back to the kitchen.
“So what can I help with?”
“Don’t be silly! You’re our guest. Baby go get Becca
something to drink,” Cara says as she tries to wave me off to sit at the
island.
“I’ll just take some water Abel. That would be great!” Once
I settle in, I ask if it’s ok to ask them a few questions while Cara finishes
up dinner. She tells me to go ahead and
Abel looks like I am about to take him to the firing squad!
Becca: Well first off, I want to say thank you for
letting me come and hang out with y’all today. And Abel you can relax man. I
promise not to ask anything too embarrassing or hard.
Cara- we’re glad to have you here. Thank you for traveling
all this way.
Abel- I’m cool Becca! Do I look nervous? But thanks for
saying that.
Becca: I must say that I wasn’t surprised when
Vincent told me that the two of you were together now. Last time I was here I
just knew that the two of you were meant to be. So why do you think it took the
two of you so long to see the big picture? Everyone else around you kinda knew.
Abel- I saw it from the moment I met her. She’s just
stubborn and made me wait eight months. Cara laughs saying, “Whatever, I had
damn good reasoning.”
Becca: Why not give up Abel? She kept putting you in
the friend zone and doing everything to say no.
Abel- Becca, you can’t fight what your heart wants. Trust
me, I tried and every time I did I was pulled back to her like a tether.
Becca: What was it that made you finally give him a
chance Cara?
Cara- I met a very wise woman, one of my patient’s wives.
She had been married for sixty-five years and told me to follow my heart. As
soon as she said those words, there was no going back for me. I was on a train
going full steam ahead, fate was the driver, and my destiny was where it was
taking me.
Becca: What has been the biggest surprise for you
Cara about Abel?
Cara- Hmmm, that’s a tough one. I would say how supportive
he is. He gets me, and all of my quirks. He let’s me be me, and supports every
aspect of who I am. When I’m down he picks me up and makes everything better.
Becca: Same question for you Abel, what’s the
biggest surprise about Cara?
Abel- I would say her strength. I never in a million years
imagined she was as strong of a woman as she is and I admire her for that.
Becca: So I heard that you went to Arizona to meet
Cara’s family. So how did that visit go?
Were you nervous?
Abel- I would be lying if I said I wasn’t. I knew when
meeting Cara’s mom I was in for a whirlwind and to expect the unexpected. But
meeting her grandma, now that scared the shit out of me.
Becca: Well I hear that there are some big changes
headed your way…(just as I start in on my
question the bells start to ring)
“Saved by the Bell!” Abel shouts, as he quickly runs behind
the island to kiss Cara before zooming off to the pole to get to the bay below.
“Man!! It was just getting good!” I laugh.
“Well, they will be back soon hopefully.”
“Care to answer for me? What in the world is going on
between Bridgette and Troy?” I ask with a smile, hoping she will elaborate on
the rumors I’ve heard.
“Well…how about we talk a bit off the record?” As she makes
her way over to my side of the island and drags me to the living room area.
“As long as it’s good, sure thing!”
All I can say is that this book is HOT HOT HOT! Although this is the second in the series and can be read as a stand alone, I suggest reading Fatalism also. Both books are great!
Cara is tired of getting burned by the same type of guy. Her MO...Sexy, tatted up, bad boys. She is ready for a serious relationship. Something like her friends Vincent and Lex have. So when Vincent's brother started showing interest in her, she just knew that she had to stay away. Abel is the Fire Chief in town, but also drives a motorcycle and has the most wonderful tattoos. Just like her MOs. There is only one problem. The more she is around him, the more she is falling for him. Abel can't get Cara off of his mind. He has a past that is keeping him from taking the steps he needs to finally make Cara his.
