BLOG TOUR: Tangled by Emma Chase

Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?

He’ll tell you he has the flu.

But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything - or anyone - derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all. Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?

Can Drew Evans win at love?

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

Where to begin with Tangled? It's hard to put into words just how much I loved, adored, delighted, worshipped and was just smitten with Tangled! (You get my drift). It was such a refreshing new take on a love story and I was hooked from the very start. Drew is our host and narrator for this story. The book reminded me of Ferris Bueller. It was as if Drew would stop to explain things - eye to eye - so you would get the point. And Drew's point is a no holds bar view of how men view one-night stands, romance and girls in general.

This book had me chuckling. It is well written, refreshing and I can't wait for more amazing books from Emma Chase. So what's the book about you ask?

Drew, has the flu (otherwise known as heartache). He just can't seem to get over it. That is until his sister and his best friend Matthew come to rescue him. See Drew met Kate. Kate took his breath away and she said NO. Who says no to Drew...umm...no one. So when Drew comes to work on Monday morning and sees Kate, he knows he is screwed.

"And she works here. In my office, where I have sworn to never...ever...screw around...and two thoughts enter my head simultaneously. The first is: God hates me. The second is: I have been a naughty, naughty boy for most of my life, and this is my payback. And you know what they say about payback, right? Yep, she's one hairy bitch." - Drew

He has to work with her and you can feel the electricity between the two of them. Kate can't deny it either and so eventually she gives in. But Kate has been engaged to her boyfriend for a long time...Will Kate give into the feelings she is slowing recognizing she has for Drew or will she run back to her boyfriend?

Well you will have to read Tangled to find out. The great thing about this book? Not only do you meet Drew and Kate, but there is a wide range of characters who are enduring and memorable and make this book a well rounded read.

Go buy it now!! 5 stars -

Hi Everyone! I am at the offices of Evans, Reinhart and Fisher to talk with Andrew (Drew) Evans’ partners and best friends – Matthew Fisher and Steven Reinhart. Thanks guys for sitting down with me today.

The three of you (Drew, Matthew and Steven) have grown up together with your father’s running the firm you now work at. Did you know growing up that the three of you would be taking over for your fathers when you grew up? How is it working with your best friend?

Steven:  It was never said out loud that we would take over, but, I don’t think anyone was surprised when we went into banking.  Our father’s offices were our playgroundsAnd I think, growing up, we saw that they were happy with their careers.  And it provided their families with a great lifestyle, in the process. So following in their footsteps and picking up where ever they’re going to leave off just seemed natural.
MatthewFor me there’s no downside to working with my best friends.  We know each other so well that, most times, I don’t even have to ask them about their opinion on something – cause I already know what they’re going to think.  Plus, it’s awesome hanging out at the office with them – shooting the shit at lunch.  It doesn’t get any better than that.

What were your thoughts when you went to Drew’s place Matthew and found him in such disarray?

Matthew: (sighs) Erin told me she was worried when Drew went home sick and then wasn’t answering his cell.  So I started stopping by his place every day after work that week. He wouldn’t open the door, but I made sure he gave me some sign that he was still breathing.  I didn’t have the whole picture on what happened – all I knew was that Dee thought Drew was a low life scumbag.  After seven days, I figured it was time to call in the heavy artillery.  But, once Lexi got him to open the door, I have to say it was worse than I thought.  I knew Drew was having a hard time, but I didn’t know he was fucking wreck.  It was kind of sad.

What was it about Kate, do you think, that threw Drew into such turmoil?

Steven:  I’ll field this one, thanks.  Being married to a former Evans, I can say was a certain level of authority that they like feeling in control of a situation.  It’s in their DNA.  Drew’s a smart, good looking guy. Usually he can use persuasion or manipulation to get things to swing in his direction.  I think what freaked him the hell out about Kate is, no matter what he did? She wouldn’t do what he wanted her to do.  And Drew’s not used to not getting his way – not succeeding – at something he sets his mind to.

Drew has confessed that he has never really been in love. Do you think he really is with Kate?

Steven: (nods)
Matthew:  Absolutely.  I look at it like this.  Imagine women are…keys. All different kinds, all different shapes.  Sometimes, lots of different keys will fit in the same lock.  But…there’s only one key that will open it.  Kate is Drew’s key.
Steven: (looks at Matthew) That’s deep, man.
Matthew: (straightfaced) I’m a complicated guy.

Steven, you are married to Drew’s Sister Alexandra. Do you know about the nickname Drew has for her?

Steven: I do not know this nickname of which you speak…
Matthew: He’s a fucking liar – he totally knows.  He was in the room the night we christened her.
Steven: (shakes head) Must’ve blocked it out.
MatthewDude, you are so making yourself look bad right now…
Steven: Says the guy who’s been dating his girlfriend for like, three months. I’ve been married for seven years.  If there’s a choice between possibly looking uncool or making my wife pissed off at me?  No contest.  You’re new to the Dark Side – you don’t know how it all works yet.  (hooks thumb at Matthew and says to me) In a year he’ll be calling me Yoda.
Matthew: (shakes head)

So tell me some of the pros and cons of Drew in a relationship and how it affects your friendship.

Steven: A pro is, the six of us get together for dinner now or meet for drinks – it’s a good time.
Matthew: The con for Jack is he’s got nobody left to hang out with.  He’s a lone wolf now – a rebel. Hasn’t stopped him though, he’s still going strong.

Steven, how is the “other” woman in Drew’s life, your daughter Mackenzie, adjusting to him being with Kate. Have her donations to the cuss jar gone down lately? Did Drew ever buy her those ponies he promised her?

StevenMackenzie adores Kate and it’s obvious the feelings are mutual. Drew and Kate take her to the movies and to Broadway shows or to Central Park – they have a lot of fun together.  And, now that you mention it, I do think the fees to the Bad Word Jar have gone down just a little. Whether that’s because Drew is cursing less, or because his mouth is busy doing other things, remains to be seen.  And yes – Mackenzie got her pony.  Christmas morning, we named him Applejack.  We keep him at John and Ann’s country place and visit on the weekends.  There was some…debate…about where the pony should live.  Drew thought Applejack should live with us in the city, and was arguing with Alexandra about during Christmas dinner.  He wouldn’t let it go until she…well…she convinced him.
Matthew (smiling) She threatened to stab him with her shrimp fork.  It was truly hilarious. And – not for the first time – made me grateful that I’m an only child.

Matthew are you still dating Dee? How are things going with that?

Matthew: Dee and I hit a rough patch when things went south between Drew and Kate.  She’s not big on the – trust - or forgiveness.  So when Drew screwed up, she found me guilty by association.  But we’re awesome now.  Dee Dee’s…one of kind.  It’s actually an interesting story – how the two of us got together.  Maybe I’ll tell it to you sometime.

Thanks guys for sitting down with me. I really enjoyed meeting you both.

Matthew: Thanks for having us.  It was real.
Steven: Yes, thanks – it was our pleasure.
